Michael Handy, M.D.

Michael Handy, M.D. is a Winston-Salem, North Carolina native.  He graduated with Highest Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1995, and received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from Duke University School of Medicine in 1999.  Dr. Handy completed orthopaedic surgery residency and general surgery internship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.  He then pursued additional fellowship training in Orthopaedic Traumatology at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  He has practiced orthopaedic surgery in Greensboro since 2005. Dr. Handy is currently Greensboro’s only member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, an organization that restricts membership to those who have fellowship training in orthopaedic trauma and who devote the majority of their practice to fracture care.  He has been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and is a frequent lecturer in the area of orthopaedic trauma.  Dr. Handy presently serves as the Medical Director of Orthopaedic Trauma for the Moses Cone Health System.
